Questions · Photo Booths

Before you ask.

Plain answers, the same ones you get in writing.

What is an open-air photo booth?

A photo booth with no box: a camera on a stand, a light, a backdrop, and a printer. Guests step up to the backdrop, the camera fires, and the prints come off the printer at the event.

With no walls around it, there’s room for a group, and the booth stays part of the room.

How do we ask about a date?

Tell us the date, the venue and whether the booth would be indoors or outdoors, roughly how many guests, and the hours. We reply about that date in writing.

Is someone with the booth the whole time?

Yes. An attendant stays with the booth from setup to the last print: keeps the line moving, helps groups into the frame, and asks guests in person before anything is posted.

What does the booth need at the venue?

The booth is open-air: a camera on a stand, a light, a backdrop, and a printer, with no enclosure. It needs floor space for the backdrop and the stands, and power for the light, the printer, and the computer that runs the booth.

Tell us about the room when you ask about a date: indoors or outdoors, roughly how much space, and where the nearest outlet is.

Can the booth go outdoors?

Yes. Outdoors, it needs shade and a spot out of the wind: a backdrop catches wind like a sail, and direct sun behind your guests puts their faces in shadow.

Indoors, keep it away from a bright window behind the backdrop, which turns faces dark.

Will our guests' photos be posted online?

Not without asking. We post an identifiable guest only with that guest’s own OK, asked in person at the print table, and never an identifiable minor without a parent’s or guardian’s written OK. The host can opt the whole event out of posting.

Anything we’re asked to take down comes down within 24 hours on every channel.

Do guests keep their prints?

Yes. The prints come off the printer at the event, and they’re the guests’ to take home. Posting anything online is a separate question, and the answer starts at no.
